Mayor Mara Lezama stressed that these cenotes will be recovered for the health and wellbeing of the population, through a general cleaning program.

The area responsible for the recovery and rehabilitation plan will be the Directorate of Ecology and Public Services, agency that will be in charge of the cleaning operation of each and every one of these sites.

The caverns within public spaces will be enabled as green areas in parks, with the aim of creating attractive coexistence centers for the inhabitants of the zone. Unfortunately, the lack of maintenance and hygiene, has turned these spots into dumps.

Some of the most known cenotes are those on Region 101, Avenida Talleres and Region 235, on Nader avenue, José López Portillo avenue, etc. These bodies of water are now full of garbage, plastic, toys, tires, large quantities of polystyrene and even dead animals.
