Chetumal taxi drivers submitted to alcohol test during working hours

CHETUMAL, Quintana Roo.- For the first time this year, transport and health authorities carried out an alcohol test to ensure that taxi drivers do not drive under the influence of alcohol.

The Department of Communications and Transportation (DCT) conducted the breathalyzer operation, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health (Sesa), to detect drunk taxi drivers in Chetumal.

Manuel Beltrán Navarro, chief inspector of the DCT, reported that during the last week have, two taxi drivers were detected under this condition and at least 10 cases have been registered so far this year.

The police roadblock was installed on Avenida Benito Juárez, on the corner with Calle Antonio Coria, at Colonia Ley Federal de Aguas.

Public services article 38 of the Law on Transit, Transportation and Operation of Roads and Highways of the State, provides that drivers involved in the operation of motor transport, concessioned by the state, are required to submit to medical exams at the beginning or end of their working shift.
