Important progress in Tulum’s infrastructure works

At the end of 2018, the administration of the municipal president, Víctor Mas Tah, delivered good results in terms of infrastructure, therefore, addressing issues of vital importance such as the saturation of the Sanitary Landfill, the Municipal Pantheon, paving of streets and the construction of the Xel-Há-Cobá tourist cycleway.

The General Director of Public Works and Services. Jorge Xiu Manzanero, acknowledged that after the works of expansion of the sanitary sewer network by the Water and Sewerage Commission (CAPA), it is now essential to repave streets in the center of this tourist destination.

Regarding the Sanitary Landfill, Xiu Manzanero reported that they have held meetings with officials of the State Secretariat of Environment (SEMA), with the purpose of finding urgent solutions to the critical situation this place is facing as the final destination of organic and inorganic waste.

In the Municipal Pantheon (Tulum’s Cemetery), the problem is that there is no more space, so themunicipality is working on the construction of vertical infrastructure, so that families can continue to place their deceased relatives there. According to the official, up to date, there is no project to build a new cemetery.

In reference to the Xel-Há-Cobá tourist cycleway, Xiu Manzanero indicated that the topographic studies are already being concluded and the municipal officials in talks with the landowners who have invaded the federal highway with their businesses to allow the construction of this important road, which will allow them to obtain better income because it will be an additional attraction for national and international tourists who enjoy nature, cycling, excercising and archaeology.

Finally, the municipal official stated that in the coming days the mayor, Víctor Mas Tah, will announce the amount of economic resources that will be used for the aforementioned infrastructure works within Tulum city limits, Maya and transition areas of the municipality, Riviera and Punta Allen, because the priority right now is to meet the needs of the people of Tulum, and turn it into a world-class, ecological and self sustainable tourist destination.
