Is Tulum opening more beach access points?

Tulum, Q.R. — Negotiations are moving forward for the opening of additional beach access points for the municipality of Tulum.

Mayor Victor Mas Tah says that the legal team of the City of Tulum has had advancements with beach access points, especially in the coastal areas that run from Playa Punta Piedra to the Reserva de la Biosfera de Sian Ka’an.

He says that many of the entry areas are currently restricted by hotel and business owners , but are areas owned by the municipality.

He said that since he began the administration, the legal team of the City Council has been given the task of carrying out the pertinent procedures before authorities for the opening of beach access points to offer more beach entry areas for both tourists and residents.

“The Legal Department and the Cadastre Directorate are working in a coordinated manner on the issue of areas of access to the sea, so that divergences are being solved and soon positive results will be announced.

It is a priority issue, therefore, the problem will be dealt with in legal terms, so that access points to the sea are open to the public,” he said.

Mas Tah said that the goal is to open 18 beach access points from Akumal to the arch of the Sian Ka´an Biosphere Reserve.
