José Castillo Magaña, general director of Tourism, said that one of the main commitments of the municipal government is to refect an image of Isla Mujeres as a clean municipality with fantastic natural attractions, as this benefits the economy of island families which main sustenance is tourism.

The fact that Playa Norte is on the list of the 10 most popular beaches in the world brings great benefits to Isla Mujeres, because it represents another reason for thousands of visitors, both national and foreign to visit this municipality.

The acknowledgement was granted mainly due to the coordinated work of the three levels of government and the City of Isla Mujeres, who perform constant tasks for the cleanliness and safety of this beach, which led to receive an important international distinction known as ” White flag”.

Isla Mujeres’ Playa Norte complies with international standards when it comes to environmental protection, including water quality, solid waste management, coastal infrastructure, biodiversity, safety, environmental education and combat to noise pollution, guaranteeing tourists a high quality customer experience.
