Playa del Carmen registers 85% hotel occupancy

The Municipal President of Solidaridad, Cristina Torres Gómez, reported that Playa del Carmen has registered a hotel occupancy of 85% over the last five days, which is 2% more than the same period last year.

The head of the Civil Protection Department, Juan Carlos Medina Sosa, said that in coordination with the three levels of government, surveillance operations are being implemented in Playa del Carmen’s maritme facilities, and he added that the Civil Protection staff is ready for the holiday season of “Semana Santa” and Easter in which the massive arrival of national and foreign tourists is expected.

Currently, Playa del Carmen is participating in the international tourism fair ITB Berlin, and more than two thousand people have visited their stand. Germany, Poland, France and England are just a fw of the European countries that have shown interest in learning more about the diversity of products that “Playa” has to offer.

In this regard, the Director General of Tourism, Rocío Ocampo Colmenares, reported that among the most demanded attractions are beaches, water parks, Maya archaeological sites and cenotes. It is worth mentioning that the people that have visited Playa del Carmen expressed that they felt safe at all times and they plan to return.

It should be noted that the municipality of Solidaridad has increased the number of patrol cars, they have better prepared agents of Public Safety and Transit and also have a greater number of surveillance cameras in different parts of the city in order to continue strengthening the municipality’s security.
